March Favourites

Loreal Mega Volume Miss Manga Punky Mascara  |  £8.99
The mascara everyone's going on about- or should be. This mascara has literally given my stubborn lashes some life! On the days I'm not wearing any lashes but looks like I am, I am wearing this baby right here. It really is a must have drugstore mascara. It gives volume, length and the perfect 'false lash' effect with only 1 or 2 coats.

Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit  |  £6.49
(click here for a full review)

MUA F9 Flat Top Buffer Brush  |  £5.00
Although this is a foundation brush, I've not really tried it with any as I always prefer to use my trusty beauty blender. I love using this to draw and blend out my contour and finish off with my Real Techniques contour brush from the core range. This allows you to draw the perfect line on the jawline, cheeks, temples and nose- a great dupe for the high end Nars and Illamasqua contour brushes.

Garnier Exfo-brusher Spot Fighter  |  £7.99
This has been a favourite of mine since last month, but I thought I'd use it for at least an entire month to see how my skin reacts to it. It works as an exfoliator and removes the dead layer of skin. As my skin is a little sensitive, I use the brush every other day and I noticed a difference in a skin within a week. A full review will be up soon!

How to accessorise (click here)
A spontaneous yet happy purchase. I'm loving chunky necklaces at the moment, not only do they look chic but they change up an outfit so quickly with no effort at all. This ones definitely a keeper.

Mac Verve  |  £15.50
One of my go-to bold lipstick, great for tanned and dark complexions. It's a browny, brick red tone with a satin finish but I pat it with a little translucent powder for a matte finish (which I LOVE) and with the powder, it lasts a good 5-6 hours.

Sleek Liner in Lingerie  |  £4.99
Multipurpose lip liner that can be used for the lips and eyes although this is a very deep pink so I personally only use it as a lip liner. It is extremely pigmented, creamy, stays on for a good 5-6 hours and the shade is so in right now. You definitely need to use a very good makeup remover to get this off your lips, even the swatch was a struggle to remove with just water! *available in 12 shades

Wet n Wild 915B Spiked With Rum  |  £4.72
(click here for a full review)

Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Chocolate  |  £15.00
For the last 3-4 months, I've been growing out my brows. This meant no threading, no plucking and no waxing, you can imagine my frustration :Z I've been very consistent in applying castor oil on my brows every night with a disposable spooly to encourage growth, and YES it has worked wonders! Since its transformation, I've been filling in the sparse areas with this amazing creamy pomade and it's really given my brows life! It's so easy to work with and control and as it's extremely pigmented, a little does go a long way. 5 stars from me ABH :)

DIY: Super Moisture Pack Hair Mask

I remember reading Huda's famous soft and shiny hair treatment post about a year ago and I've always wanted to give it a try. After watching a recent video on her IG and another from a fellow blogger, it totally jugged my memory and I had to try it out.

My hair before treatment *dry, curled and in need of some moisture!

1/2 avocado: high in vitamin B and E which work well together to protect and strengthen the hair. It's also a great moisturiser for dry and damaged hair.

2 tablespoons olive oil: reduces damage to the roots and leaves hair feeling soft and shiny. It's also known to prevent hair loss.

2 tablespoons coconut oil: reduces damage to the hair and encourages hair growth.

Scoop out the avocado from its skin and mash using a fork making sure there are no lumps left

Add the oil and coconut oil and using the fork again, mix in the oils together
(you can use a food processor if you prefer)

Rub the mixture into dry hair and leave in for 30 minutes

After washing your hair as usual, remember to rinse thoroughly making sure no avocado bits are left behind.
*please note- this may not work on all hair types.

And voila, you'll be left with super soft, shiny hair.

*My hair after treatment, no straightening, no blow-drying, my hair was air dried.

The gorgeous Sabrina from Maquillage Menu (click here) had also tried this treatment and her results were fabulousss!

Chiseled Cheeks at its cheapest

Contouring has definitely taken over our beauty market! Why shouldn't it, who doesn't love defined features? Let's welcome one of the very few that we have in our UK drugstores- Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit.

I picked this up back in February (click here) as soon as it came out after seeing it mentioned as a dupe for ABH contour kit on Amelia Liana's video but it has been narrowed down to three main colours. ABH isn't easily available here as it's forever out of stock so waheyyy to an alternative.

The packaging is just like any other Barry M palettes, it's not great, a little flimsy and has a cheap feel to it, but always remember, don't judge a book by its cover right? Although the packaging isn't a 10, the powders do keep very well and do not get damaged during storage. I was obsessing over contouring at the time of purchase so my thoughts on packaging went straight out the window.

There are three shades in the kit, a cool contour, a warm contour and a yellow setting powder all of which are matte but with the tiniest bit of sheen. The kit has a handy pictorial on the inside which you can follow to get the perfect chiseled look. The pan sizes are not too small and not too big, there's definitely lots of room for you to swirl your Real Techniques contour brush in.

cool contour: a dark taupe for contouring
warm contour: works like a bronzer
yellow setting powder: to set the under eye area and add a highlight

All three shades are super pigmented, have a buttery and are very blendable. And with the two different contour shades, I'd definitely say it's a universal kit. So what more could we ask for in such a pocket friendly contour kit? This budget contour kit is perfect for light to medium complexions and if you're new to the whole highlight and contouring process.

REMEMBER: with contouring, start off with a little bit of product and build it up if needed!

When acne came back to haunt me

Sebamed Clear Face Gel  |  £5.55

"Combats pimples, blackheads and skin impurities"

I've been meaning to write up my acne update for a while, but I thought I had to use this gel for at least 6-8 weeks for me to see visible results. During christmas last year, I had a massive acne breakout. I had stopped using the products I mentioned in my first acne post (click here) just to see how my skin would react- and obviously it wasn't good. I didn't like the fact that my skin had gotten so used to the thick coconut oil so I looked out for cheaper and lighter alternatives. I eventually came across this lightweight face gel from FeelUnique.

panthenol: supports the healing process of all types of acne
hyaluronic acid: encourages the right type and amount of moisture in the skin
aloe vera: soothes the skin and works as an anti-inflammatory
allantoin: smooths and soothes the skin
pH of 5.5: prevents the growth of acne bacteria

The gel has a liquidy/gel consistency and does not clog pores. It keeps my skin hydrated throughout the day and once applied my skin feels tight. For the annoying spot here and there, I apply the gel directly onto the spot overnight and by morning it's much less 'violent' (I'm sure you get what I mean).

The gel is suitable for all types of acne prone skin from combination skin to super oily- I wouldn't recommend this to people with dry skin. I apply a pea sized amount twice a day- everyday. It feels like rubbing water into the skin for the first couple of seconds but straight after that it sinks in and feels like an actual moisturiser.

MARCH 2015 - 11 WEEKS IN

MARCH 2015 - 13 WEEKS IN

I'm afraid I have no pictures from when I first broke out! After 3 and a half months of using this product consistently in my routine, my acne has improved so much. I can go my day without the need of covering up with foundation- yay!

Beauty By Topshop

I must start off with saying how impressed I am with Topshop beauty. I have no idea why I didn't try these products any earlier but I definitely recommend all the products I will be mentioning in this post and I can't wait to try out more from their collection!

Lipstick in Mink, Wicked & Boardroom

£8.00 (click here)

I loveee the lipstick range in Topshop- the colours they have are all very unique compared to the ones we see in the drugstores. I traveled FAR for the lipstick in Boardroom as it was out of stock in all my local Topshop stores and online but it was alllll worth it because the colour is perfect!

Mink- a pinky/browny nude
Wicked-  a rich, bold purple
Boardroom- a dark, brownish taupe

Once applied, it literally feels like silicone on the lips so it is very creamy and smooth. I'd definitely say they are long-lasting and moisturising.
TIP- add some loose translucent powder onto the lips which leaves a matte finish.

Lip Liner in Ceramic

£5.00 (click here)

This peach/brown lip liner is very creamy and smooth looking once applied. I have officially become a lip liner hoarder! At the beginning of last year, I owned about 1 or 2 now I'm running out of space in my lip liner holder =Z It's a very neutral, subtle colour, easy to pair with any lipstick to encourage longevity and prevent lipstick bleeding. You can of course wear it on its own if you prefer, it leaves a lovely matte finish.

Velvet Lips in Velveteen Ribbon

 £10 (out of stock online)

This was one of the first liquid lipsticks I ever bought and I was super impressed by its longevity, texture and the gorgeous matte finish (which if you don't know is my favourite at the moment). As soon as it's applied, it dries really quickly and the lasting power is amazing. I had it on for 6-7 hours without reapplying, I ate and drank throughout the day and it did not budge! I did apply lip balm beforehand just because it is a full on matte finish and did not want it to dry out my lips.

Bronzer in Mohawk

£9 (out of stock online)

Now, I am sucker for bronzers as blushes have never really been my thing. This is a matte, medium-brown bronzer which gives a very natural finish but can be built up. It's easy to blend and lasts all day on my cheeks. I love using it for contouring, bronzing and even as a transition colour on my eyelids. A perfect dupe for Benefit's Hoola bronzer (however Hoola is a slightly on the darker side).

Highlighter in Horizon

£10 (click here)

I mentioned this highlighter endless times on my Instagram (click here) and in my February favourites (click here), only because it truly is a must have highlighter for dark and tanned complexions. It has a campagney-gold undertone and leaves a natural finish. I love wearing this with my Bahama-Mama bronzer by theBalm Cosmetics.
