My First Microdermabrasion & Facial

I was invited to Harley Street Treatments for my first microdermabrasion treatment and a complementary facial. I had no idea whatsoever what to expect during my treatments, I was a little nervous- but the lovely Ilire (who was my consultant and aesthetic practitioner) reassured me throughout.

Microdermabrasion is an exfoliating, skin rejuvenating facial in which an abrasion tool is used to buff away the top layer of the skin- sounds painful right? I'm not going to lie, I am so sensitive to even a small pinch so you can imagine how clenched my fists and teeth must have been!

Ilire started off with cleansing my face and covering my eyes. Super-fine crystals from the abrasion tool were sprayed onto my skin to exfoliate and remove the top layer. The procedure gets deep into the first layer of the skin to improve the oiliness, dullness, mild acne scars, uneven pigmentation and even the texture of the skin.

She then used an intensive treatment mask which was packed with vitamins and minerals. It claimed to repair damaged skin and leaving it feeling fresh and firm. Ilire ended the treatment by using three skin-loving serums;

skin rehydration serum: improves skins texture, suppleness and luminosity
depigmentation serum: improves skin hyperpigmentation, softens and smooths
pro-collagen synthesis and super antioxidant serum: contains high SPF and adds a luminous glow

It has now been exactly 2 weeks since my treatments and my face is the same as it was before the treatment. There were a few scars left from spots on the day of my treatment which I still have on my face. I am also less oily on my t-zone and around my nose, but that's definitely because the weather has gone super cold here in London and the it does tend to dry out my skin. I use many effective skincare products religiously which work amazingly on my skin so if there is any positive progress on my skin, its for that reason only. The microdermabrasion treatment is recommended every 6 weeks but due to the price and seeing no difference in my skin AND still having the scars I would not be going back.
