ILLAMASQUA SKIN BASE FOUNDATION REVIEW

Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation in 12  |  £32.50

"Inspired by the cult Asian market Beauty Balm creams, Skin Base Foundation has a innovative and refined formula. Easily blendable, it effortlessly creates a perfect complexion, and like the entire Illamasqua foundation range, is undetectable in professional HD environment. It smooths, softens and conditions your skin whilst providing natural, buildable coverage."

After using this on and off throughout the first half of 2015, I can definitely say this is one of my go-to foundations on a daily basis. The ladies at the Selfridges counter were SO friendly during my visit and a long consultation, they matched me to the perfect shade.
The aim for Skin Base is to even out the skin tone, have a great coverage and leave a flawless finish, and it does exactly that.
It has a medium to buildable coverage and still manages to meet its criteria of still looking like skin. It does a fabulous job of covering my blemishes and acne scars (it does not aggravate my breakouts). It's also very light and moisturising on my combination/dry skin.
Illamasqua released the Skin Base with a huge colour range with a mix of neural, red, yellow and pink undertones. This foundation caters to us medium-dark complexions really well.
The best way to apply this is to press it into the skin with a damp beautyblender leaving a natural, illuminated, semi-matte finish. When applying, I start of with a small pea sized amount dabbed onto my face before going in with my beautyblender. I add more if necessary.

*please note: this foundation can easily be left looking cakey when too much product is used. It is quite pigmented so use sparingly.
PROS
