Concealers are a staples in my makeup routine and collection. It's the one makeup product I wear daily without fail, even if I don't wear anything else. Growing up I have always had dark under eyes due to genetics so a good coverage, long lasting concealer is a must. Now for many years, I have tried and tested endless amounts
of concealers, some awesome ones which I still use till this day and others that didn't quite make the cut.
TARTE SHAPE TAPE CONCEALER IN TAN SAND
My current holy grail concealer that I recently repurchased for 50% off (which is such a bargain). Not only does it flawlessly cover my dark circles and pigmentations, it boosts my confidence so much! On work days, I only wear this concealer under my eyes and after a long 12 hours outside, the concealer still looks as good as it was first applied at the end of the day - it is very long lasting. It is also very hydrating and has a natural looking high coverage with a matte finish. As it's quite pigmented, a little goes a long way. This concealer in available in 30 shades.
LA GIRL HD PRO CONCEALER IN MEDIUM BEIGE
The LA Girl concealer was the first drugstore concealer that I was able to match to and a good one that covered my dark circles. There is a whooping 43 different shades available in this range for concealing, colour correcting, highlighting and contouring. It's a lightweight, fill coverage concealer that feels like there's no product on the face when applied. It comes in a tube with a brush tip applicator and it can be directly applied to the face. It's the most affordable concealer I own and love and I will always recommend.
LOREAL INFALLIBLE LONGWEAR CONCEALER IN ALMOND
I bought this during a random visit to Superdrug. I noticed it looked a lot like Tarte Shape Tape so after swatching some testers, I picked up the shade Almond which was the closest to my Tarte shade. The product does set and dry very quickly so once applied, I blend out quickly with my beauty blender and set with my loose powder. The doe-foot applicator is slightly bigger than other concealers I've tried. This concealer is available in 25 shades which is pretty good for a drugstore concealer.
ELF COSMETICS CAMO CONCEALER IN TAN SAND
An affordable, drugstore concealer that promises an 8 hour wear? Yes please! When I saw endless raving reviews on this concealer I had to try it for myself! I picked up shade Tan Sand after seeing a few swatches on Youtube. It is very creamy in texture and I was able to cover my dark circles and blemishes with little product - it is pigmented. This long lasting concealer reminded me a lot of Tarte Shape Tape. And just like Loreal's Infallible concealer, it does dry pretty quickly once applied. This concealer is available in 18 shades.
CHARLOTTE TILBURY MAGIC AWAY CONCEALER IN 7
The day I received this concealer was the day I got to meet the lovely woman herself, Charlotte Tilbury - I was in awe. She demonstrated the concealer during her speech and the coverage looked insane. It's a medium to full coverage and blends nicely into the skin. It has awesome staying power once set with powder. It is a little on the dry side so do make sure your base is moisturised. The only con is the packaging. The concealer comes with a sponge attached so after a while it can feel a little grubby. It also has a twist up mechanism and it feels like I am constantly twisting but no product even comes out. Because of the packaging, I will not be repurchasing this. This concealer is available in 16 shades.
KEVIN AUCOIN SENSUAL SKIN ENHANCER IN SX11
The Sensual Skin Enhancer is one of the most pigmented products I own. It can be used as a concealer, highlighter, foundation or tinted moisturiser. I have only used this to conceal my under eyes. It provides the upmost coverage flawlessly without any effort. It comes in a small pot and although it doesn't look like theres enough product, you only need the tiniest amount under each eye. It's a very long lasting, waterproof concealer and I would highly recommend it for your special occasions. This concealer is available in 16 shades.
MAKEUP REVOLUTION CONCEAL AND DEFINE CONCEALER IN C10
Another concealer that has been compared to Tarte's Shape Tape concealer. It is lightweight with a medium coverage and it has a creamy, lightweight texture. It is similar to Tarte's Shape Tape however it is a little more drying, has a little less coverage and the doe-foot applicator is bigger. After applying and blending the product out, I do go over it with a little more product for more coverage. This concealer is available in 24 shades.
NARS RADIANT CREAMY CONCEALER IN GINGER
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer was the first high end concealer that I fell in love with using. It covered my dark circles, any blemishes that I had and pigmented areas. It blends seamlessly into the skin leaving a natural finish and does not look cakey. It is a medium to full coverage concealer and texture of the concealer is creamy. And because of the texture, a lot of people have mentioned how it could crease under their eyes. The trick is to blend the product out, set it with powder until the powder disappears into the skin and then bake with a loose powder for a minute or so. The concealer is available in 30 shades. Before using any base products, I always make sure my skin is cleansed and moisturisers. A good hydrated base encourages the longevity of all the makeup I apply. It also prevents any creases and flakiness. My most favourite from the ones mentioned above has to be Tarte Shape Tape (no surprise there).
